About the author

Pam Black has been writing books for the past 26 years. The A-Z of Factory Shops in the Western Cape, now in its twelfth edition, was her first book and became an overnight best seller. She is also the author of several other successful publications, including Senior Citizens’ Money-Saver, How to Survive the School Holidays and The really useful WEDDING BOOK for South Africa.

In 1996 Pam launched Celebration House, an innovative resource centre offering free information and assistance to those planning weddings and other functions. This led to the establishment of the highly regarded website, www.celebrationhouse.co.za, which provides a wealth of advice and information to anyone planning a special celebration. Pam is very proud of the fact that this popular wedding website was a runner-up in the on-line category of SA Tourism’s 2009 Welcome Awards.

Pam has also been actively involved in promoting South Africa as a wedding destination at The National Wedding Show in London, where the informative booklet Under African Skies – a guide to weddings and honeymoons in South Africa (published by Pam Black Publications), is distributed.

Since 2004, Pam has become well known for the column on wedding  planning tips that she writes each month in the Die Burger Leefstyl supplement. In 2009 Pam Black Publications was one of the finalists in 567 Cape Talk’s Small Business of the Year Awards.

Happily married to her attorney husband Malcolm for over 30 years, Pam has two sons – Tim (married to Sarah Jane) and  Nic (married to Sue) – and is a proud ‘gogo’ to granddaughters Emma and Thea, and grandson Levi.
